979-238-CAER (2237)

Note:  If you live in the Brazosport area and have an unlisted phone and/or cell phone number, please consider releasing that number to the TAS System for emergency communication purposes; it will remain confidential.

The community sirens will notify you if a chemical emergency is occurring in an area close by.

Please Note:  The sirens are tested every Monday at 12:10 p.m.

If you hear the CAER Sirens:

  • DON'T PANIC
  • Go inside your home, car, or a public building. Do not attempt to travel to another location in the area unless instructed.
  • Close all windows and turn off air conditioners
  • If needed, call (979)-238-CAER (2237).
  • If the release gets inside your shelter, place a wet cloth over your mouth and nose to serve as a filter.
  • If you hear the CAER Sirens but can't get inside: Move crosswind (in a direction so the wind is blowing from your left to right, or vice versa, but not into your face or from behind).

If the event is directly impacting your residence or business, you will be notified via an automatic Telephone Alert System called the TAS System of any additional steps that you will need to take.
